Early Demo
This is an early demo of a turn-based strategy roguelike focused on positioning, abilities, team building, and tactical decision-making.
Each archetype has unique mechanics associated with it. For example, Isolated teams excel at separating enemies and taking them out one by one; debuff teams stack debuffs, link enemies to share damage, then their main damage dealer deals bonus damage based on the number of debuffs on the enemy; hazard teams focus on placing traps and forcing enemies into them; arcane magic teams include a unit who gain stacks as allies consume magic, then unleash it in large bursts. There are a number of different types of spells and abilities, including traditional AOE shapes, chain lightning, a plagues which spread and mutate, etc.
This is an early look at where the project currently stands. I'd really appreciate any feedback on what you enjoyed, what didn't work, and what you think could be improved.
This was made with PC in mind. It technically works for mobile, but everything will be small and hard to read.
What's Planned
This demo currently represents only a small portion of the game I have planned. If I continue development, I hope to add:
- 4 additional biomes, each with their own mechanics and environmental hazards (such as sandstorms, ice patches, and more)
- Many more enemies and bosses
- More playable ally units
- Additional game modes
- More archetypes, abilities, equipment, and team-building options
- And plenty of other content as the game develops
- (Art rework, as described below)
For now, I wanted to get an early version into people's hands and see what they think. Is the core gameplay fun? What parts are most interesting? What would you like to see more of? Your feedback will help me decide what direction the project should take.
About the Art
The art in this demo is placeholder art. I am not an artist, so the current visuals are primarily here to communicate the gameplay and give the project some atmosphere.
If the project gets enough interest to justify continued development, I'd like to eventually replace the placeholder assets with a cohesive visual style, whether partnering with an artist, or use an existing art package (please recommend one!)
If you know of an asset pack or artist whose style you think would fit this game and may want to partner with me for this project, I'd love to hear your recommendations!
Thanks for Playing!
If you give the demo a try, please let me know what you think. Even a few sentences of feedback are incredibly useful at this stage.
I am also making a Discord if you would like to follow this project (https://discord.gg/Cb8dqzxPE).
